The TViX only allowed 4 network connections, the mede8er is virtually unlimited (no I haven't tried to reach a limit as I only have about 16 different locations that I access regularly). The next three icons are for searching for content- movie, music and photo. From that point on you never really have to dig down to the folder again, simply go to the favorites folder to gain direct access to the folder. Simply browsing from the media library allows you to select a folder, which can then be added to the favorites list. Just about any folder no matter where it is, can be added to the favorites for quick access. The next icon is the 'media library' which is basically a link to all available hard drives/flash drives/network drives, etc. I wish the boot delay was a bit shorter, but it is not too bad.The power of this unit is in the first icon on the left which is 'favorites'.

Not to say they couldn't add an online update, but currently it does not.Powering on presents a boot delay & then presents the Main Menu. The Mede8er does it's updates via usb flash drive.

The TViX has a very nice built-in firmware update option, if you are connected to the Internet it can download & update using the remote control. The supplier did flash to the latest version of the firmware before shipping, which was nice. It is just a standard 12v 2amp power pack so substitution shouldn't be an issue. Has a mini-pci connector in the center which is for an optional add-on wifi card.Unit ships with the European power pack and an adapter for the U.S. It has a very small motherboard, probably about the same dimensions as the hard drive. A metal panel/Hard drive holder removes to expose the insides. Remote seems to be more complicated than necessary as some functions could be re-used instead of having dedicated buttons for each item. At the time of purchase I was only able to find one US distributor.A nice Looking unit with a combo of metal/plastic. I decided to try the latest generation of the Mede8er line. When DViCO stopped updating the model I was using, due in part to rumours that the "main" engineer had quit, I began to look at alternatives. I had seen some advertisements for it, but had been a long time user of DViCO/TViX products.

Probably very few people in the US are familiar with Sanji and the Mede8er line of products as this company is a South Africa based.
